Scripture

The Bible was written by the Holy Spirit of God through men as a revelation of God to man. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error. Therefore, all Scripture is absolute, true and trustworthy.

In Luke 2:41-52 Mary, Joseph, and Jesus were in Jerusalem observing the “Feast of the Passover”. When they began their journey home they assumed Jesus was with those traveling among them before realizing he was left in Jerusalem. After 3 days of travel and looking for Jesus they found him in the temple. When they asked where he had gone His response in V49 was “did you not know I must be in my Fathers house”? We see that at the age of 12 Jesus understood His mission on earth and carried a great love for the scriptures being taught in the temple.

In Matthew chapter 4 we see Jesus being tempted by satan. Through this temptation we see a tool or even a weapon used to combat the schemes of the enemy. In response to satan’s lies and temptations Jesus quotes the Holy scriptures. Defeating lies with truth, and darkness with light.

If it was necessary for Jesus to carry the scripture in His body, living in and out of them, it is also necessary to us.
