THE DISTRICT CHURCH

The District Church began in September 2012, when 12 people gathered in our founding pastor Boyd Bettis’s living room. Our core team prayed, planned, and laid the foundation of our church. We continued meeting every Sunday night in that living room until Easter 2013, when we officially launched Sunday morning worship gatherings.

For the first two years, we held services at the Junior League of Jacksonville. In 2015, we moved to Lee High School, which we called home until 2020. Like many others, we were deeply impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. From March to October 2020, we gathered online for worship. In the fall of 2020, Lakeshore Baptist Church graciously opened their building for our congregation to share.

In the fall of 2021, we felt called to 40 days of prayer, asking God to provide a permanent home, grow us in holiness, and fill our hearts with hope to serve our city. By God’s grace, we were able to purchase the former J&W Discount Store at 4045 Post St. We are currently working to renovate this space into the permanent home of The District Church.

In 2023, the Bettis family felt called to leave Jacksonville and bring the gospel message to Utah. The District Church leadership recommended Pastor Joshua to the pastoral search committee, and he was unanimously voted in as our new lead pastor. Pastor Joshua has faithfully served as TDC’s creative and worship pastor for years, and he now leads with vision and teaching.

The District Church is a special place because of its people. Each Sunday, people from across our city gather as one community, united by the hope of the gospel. Our mission is to see lives transformed by Jesus and our city renewed by God’s grace. We are committed to helping people become fully devoted followers of Jesus and believe that when someone meets Him, everything changes.

When we founded The District Church, we did so with you in mind, praying you would find hope in the gospel and see God change your life, your family, and your community for eternity. We would love for you to join us one Sunday.
