Leadership - The District Church

The District Church began with 12 people in Pastor Boyd's living room in September 2012. Our core-team prayed, planned, and built the foundation of our church. We met every Sunday night in that living room until Easter 2013, when we officially began Sunday morning worship gatherings.

For the first 2 years we met at The Jr League of Jacksonville, in 2015 we moved to Lee High School where we called home until 2020. For many people the COVID Pandemic will be a part of history, it was for us as well. We met online as church from March-October 2020. In the fall of 2020, Lakeshore Baptist Church, opened their building to our congregation to share the space.

During the fall of 2021, we felt led to call the church to 40 days of prayer to ask God to provide a home, grow us in our holiness, and fill our hearts with hope to encourage the city. By God’s grace we were able to purchase the former J&W Discount Store. Our hope is to by 2023 move into our first permanent home.

The District Church is a special place because of its people. We love that every Sunday, people from all across our city gather as The District Church. Our hope is to see the Gospel transform our city. We want to help people become fully committed to following Jesus and to see our city interrupted by God’s grace, because when someone meets Jesus, it changes everything. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is our motivation and aim for everything we do.

When we started The District Church, we had you in mind. That you would find hope in the gospel and see the Lord change your life, your families and the cities for eternity. We would love for you to visit with us one Sunday.

Pastor Boyd Bettis

Boyd and Brittany live in Jacksonville with their three children: Whittaker, Fletcher, and Eliza Kate. Boyd and Brittany have been married 15 years.

Pastor Boyd Bettis has a passion to see people discover who they are in Christ and be used by Him to advance the gospel. His hobbies and passion are all things bow hunting, smoking meat on the Traeger, and fitness. Brittany has a passion for counseling and helping women navigate life’s challenges through God’s word. She is a certified Biblical Counselor, leads our Women’s event called Abide, and loves being a mom to her three kids.

Pastor Boyd has a Bachelor's degree from The Baptist College of Florida and Master of Arts in Religious Studies from Liberty University.

Elders

The District Church is ruled and under the authority of our Senior Pastor, Jesus, as the church belongs to Him. Jesus has entrusted the oversight, leadership, protection, and caring for the people to men who are qualified according to 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 to serve as elders. Our elders oversee the staff, who execute the ministry strategy and we are congregationally accountable.

Our elders team has appointed the pastoral staff and ministry support staff to execute the day to day ministry and entrust them to equip the saints for the work of ministry.
